DocxMelter is the companion tool to DocxSectioner. It takes a collection of individual .docx files and merges them into a single master document, ensuring all formatting remains consistent.
Since this is an independent academic tool, macOS may show a warning that the developer cannot be verified. To open the app for the first time:
One of the biggest hurdles in digital linguistics and academic publishing is the final assembly of a work. When chapters are edited separately, they often develop slight variations in style definitions or section properties. Traditional "copy-paste" methods frequently break page numbering, corrupt footnotes, or misalign images.
DocxMelter was created to bypass these manual errors. It treats the reassembly as a batch process, "melting" files together while strictly respecting the XML structure. This is especially crucial for final dissertation submissions where even a small formatting glitch can be problematic.
DocxMelter intelligently handles SEQ fields and numbered lists. This means that if you have numbered linguistic examples or figures spread across different files, the final merged document will correctly restore the continuous numbering sequence from the first page to the last, just as it was in the original master.Workflow Tip: For the best results, use files previously generated by DocxSectioner. Since those files contain the full style cache of the original master, DocxMelter can reintegrate them with zero loss in quality or formatting precision.
